The image on the right is a still taken from a Super-8 movie shot by incandescent light. The residence where the painting hung burned twenty-eight years ago. This photo is all that remains of the original portrait, painted May 1945 in Berchtescaden, Germany, by Carl Wuermer, a blue ribbon winner at the 1939 New York Worlds Fair for his painting art work. George Mullins was 19 at the time of the sitting, serving with Co C. !st Bn. 327 G.I.R 101st Airborne with which he had served throughout WW II.
Mr. Mullins' son commissioned me to recreate the painting and the result is pictured on the left.
